One of my ‘goals’ for 2013 is to relax, take care of myself and spaaaaahhh more #12monthsofspa. With that in mind (and my next spa day booked) I thought I’d share with you three of my favourite spas from 2012.
Set in the tranquil North East lies the beautiful and stylish Rockliffe Hall Hotel & Spa. Whether you’re visiting for a special spa break or day escape, the staff at Rockliffe will give you the 5* treatment. Here I experienced a luxurious and organic sacred nature facial by [ comfort zone ], my therapist was lovely and let me enjoy the silence while she worked her magic. Once my treatment was complete I wrapped up in my robe and was shown the spa boutique (beauty heaven) and indulged in some retail therapy purchasing Daniel Sandler products and a Sacred Nature Cleansing Milk that was used in my treatment.
What I love: Besides the comforting atmosphere created by the friendly and fun staff, the pool area and striking original stained glass windows throughout are divine.
Owl House Spa
The smaller spa of the three, Owl House Spa in Derbyshire is a home away from home including a sweet cafe and outdoor hot tub . The staff are attentive, the treatments give long lasting results and the feminine décor didn’t scare off the Gingerbeard Man. I spent an idyllic day at the Owl House Spa back in August. After having a late one and feeling a little worse for wear the Gingerbeard Man and I reluctantly drove 3 hours home and then onto the spa. Feeling fed up, stressed and sleepy we were more than ready for some relaxation. I’m happy to say that upon leaving Owl House Spa there wasn’t a knot to be felt or a mood swing in sight.
What I love: The daybeds are a great space for unwinding and spending time reading or quiet time. The Aromatherapy Associates facial was also really hydrating and friends noticed the difference in my skin afterwards. We have our next visit booked for my birthday in February, I can’t wait to return to those dreamy daybeds.
The Spa at Dolphin Square
I have to agree with the ‘Good Spa Guide’ who named Dolphin Square as ‘Best Day Spa’ of 2012. A complete sensorial experience, it’s obvious a lot of thought has gone into the London based Moroccan concept spa; from the breath-taking Moroccan deco to the spicy cinnamon and myrrh fragrance throughout.
What I love: The Arabian Back Scalp & Face Ritual by [ comfort zone ] really hits the spot with over one hour of Moroccan fragrances and Arabian influenced movements that includes a back massage, full facial, hypnotic face, scalp and foot massage.
Do you have a favourite spa you like to visit when it all gets a bit too much or fancy a treat? Feel free to leave me a comment and a treatment you would suggest. I’ll take a look add it to my list of 2013 spa visits!
